CARRIGAN, J.C.— Age 84 ofNashville,passedaway onMarch10,2013atBaptist Hospitalafteraheartattack. He wasbornNovember9, 1928toJesseCooperand Myrtle WarrenCarrigan.In additiontohisparents,he wasprecededindeathby3 brothers, J.W.,Charlie,and Horace;2sisters,LouiseOs- borneandLillianMcKinney; onegranddaughter,Madi- sonAbigailCarter.Heis survivedbyhislovingwife of43years,MaryHall Carrigan;daughter,Nanci Alice(Jon)Carter;grand- son,ZacharyAlanCarter; granddaughter,Carrigan AlisaCarter;andseveral niecesandnephews,who lovinglycalledhim"Uncle Jay."Attheageof13,J.C.was baptizedbyE.C.McKenzie at22ndAve.Churchof Christ,andremainedfaith- fultoGodfor71years.Over manyyearsofphysicalad- versity,heleanedonhisfa- voritescripture,Romans 8:28.AftermovingtoEast Nashville,heworshippedat theformerJoywoodChurch ofChrist,nowTrinityLane. Inthetwocongregations,he fulfilledmanyroles,includ- ingsupervisingSunday School,drivingthebus,co- ordinatingthefoodpantry, servingcommuniontoshut- ins,andcountingtheweek- lycontributions.Asayoung man,J.C.playedsandlotball andkeptthescoreboardat theNashvilleVolsbaseball games;asanadult,he playedchurchleaguesoft- ball.HelovedLipscomb baseball,andheandhis familytraveledformany yearsalloverthecountry withtheteam.Hebeganhis grocerycareerdelivering groceriesonhisbicycleand forover52years,wasa clerk,abutcheroramanag- erforstoresalloverNash- ville,retiringin1993.He servedasachefintheArmy inBamburg,Germany,dur- ingtheKoreanconflict.The funeralwillbeheldon Wednesday,March13that 10a.m.,atPhillips-Robinson FuneralHome,2707 GallatinPike.Visitation: Tuesday,March12thfrom3 p.m.to7p.m.,andonehour priortoservice.Burialat MiddleTNVeteransCeme- teryonMcCroryLane.
