Wilkins Tannehill A Leading Citizrii WILKINS TANNEHILL. mentioned in Bill Holder's story on page 10 about the centenary of Nashville Ccmmandery No. 1, Knights Templar, was not only the first commander of the order but one of Nashville's most distinguished early citizens and the ancestor of members of a number of prominent families. He made his appearance appearance in Nashville by opening a warehouse for -the -the sale cf salt from the vats operated by relatives in Illinois; within a few years he was interested in other commercial ventures in the city and later became an editor, publisher and bookseller.
