Fake Bomb Taped to Bank Manager During Robbery SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain (AP) Kidnappers taped what they said was a bomb to the chest of a Spanish bank manager after they forced him to open the safe, police said. It was not until the terrified man ran to police headquarters, shouting for help, that explosives experts discovered the device was a fake, they said.

Ignacio Alustiza, manager of a bank in Legazpia, a northern Span-ish town in the Basque region, said he was kidnapped by two men Friday and forced to open the bank safe. The thieves netted about $95,000, he said. They taped a device to his chest before fleeing, said Alustiza, who then ran to police headquarters. Two years ago, a former Barcelona mayor and an industrialist were killed when explosives taped to their chests proved to be real and went off. "Manufacturers advertise that their foods are heavily fortified, but they don't say that the vast majority of Americans don't need the extra vitamins and minerals. This is clearly deceptive," said Michael Jacobson, director of the non-profit organization. In a petition to the FDA, the center said fortification deceives consumers, results in the useless expenditure of millions of dollars, often violates FDA voluntary guidelines and gives companies that fortify their products, "an unfair marketing advantage over more responsible companies."
