A longtime Sevier County resident, she was born Mattie Mai Byrne, in the Middle TN Granville Community, on July 7, 1911. She was married to the late Joe Franklin Carr of Hartsville, TN for 67 years. Together they were prominent in the Sevierville business community forming Carr Dry Goods. In addition to helping, with the store, and of their hotels, Mrs. Carr was a school teacher in the Underwood and Sevierville communi-.

ties. Mrs. Carr was one of the founders of Sevierville Church of Christ, of which she remained a faithful member. Besides contributions to her community, she was a most gracious lady and devoted to her family of which she was most proud. Juliet visiting family and friends. He enjoyed his membership in the Mt. Wilson Historical Society for a number of years.
