Lee Cantrell left for Denver last night, where he will be joined by his brother, James, who is now in the West. Little hope is entertained for Dr.

Cantrell' recovery. The record for filing delinquent tax suits was broken yesterday when City Tax Attorney H. L. Scott filed 200 suits for overdue taxes on suburban property, winding. up the suits to be filed for delinquent 1907 taxes.

These suits will be brought before the Chancery Court and the property sold at auction in October, if the taxes are not paid. In view of this fact -many property owners have already settled for their back taxes. Attorney Scott says the property will be sold without fall, if the taxea are not met before October. No new 'charters were granted yesterday by Hallum W. Goodloej Secretary of State.

He Issued two amendments as follows: The Bank of Watertown, Wilson County, was authorized to increase Its capital stock from $25,000 to $50,000. An involuntary petition in bankruptcy was yesterday filed against the James Brothers Jewelry Company, of Columbia, by the Eisentadt Manufacturing. Company, of Missouri, and the Joy Flora! Company and Geny of this city. R.

L. Shirley, Deputy United States Marshal, served a copy of the bill and summons on A. S. James, President of the company, yesterday. The petition alleges that on June 13, 1910, the company committed an act of bankruptcy in that it made an assignment for the benefit oT its creditors, thereby conveying all of its property to the Phoenix Savings Bank Trust Company, of Columbia.

The accounts of the creditors follow: Eisentadt Manufacturing Company, Joy Floral Company, Geny $15. William C. An increase of nearly $3,000 Is shown in the net earnings of the Nashville Railway Light Company for the six months ending June 30, 1910. The construction account shows a big increase, being over $13,000 more this year than It was last: Considerable excitement was created among the ladies of Pope avenue, Waver-ly Place, yesterday when a negro stole a purse containing money from the premises of Mrs. Sloane. The intruder was chased away by a dog and a county scholastic enumerator. In his flight the thief dropped- the purse and It was returned to Its owner.

Armed with a shotgun, Mr3. S. S. Foster, of Morrow road and Twenty-second avenue, put a would-be chicken thief to rout early yesterday morning. Mrs.

Foster, who was aroused from sleep by the marauder, fired two shots at what she reports to have been the retreating figure of a man. The police are investigating. Interest on city bonds to the amount of $54,564 was paid yesterday by Treasurer Charles Myers. A check for that amount was issued and made payable to the American National Bank.
