Born July 7, 1918. Passed away peacefully on May 26, 2006. Born to the late Beulah A. and Frank B. Todd of Collinwood, TN.

Also preceded in death by grandson, Todd McGee Dukes; sister, Louise A. Bell. Survived by wife of 64 years, Roberta McGee Todd; daughter Jacklynn Todd Proctor (Dick); son, Chuck Todd (Elizabeth) all of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Mr. Todd graduated from Collinwood High School, Collinwood, TN in 1937.

He entered the Army Air Force and served for five years. From 1945-61, he was in the grocery business in Collinwood, TN. Later he moved to Old Hickory, TN, where he owned and operated Old Hickory Food Market. He then moved to Nashville in 1963, where he owned and operated Todd's Market on Davidson Drive in West Nashville until he retired in 1981. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Eastern Star where he belonged to Lodge 612 West Nashville.

He was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. for family and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. by Dr. Mike Shelton. Burial following service at National Cemetery on McCrory Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JDRF or Alive Hospice.

Brinkley was born in Davidson County, TN on February 19, 1924. Preceded in death by father, Richard Brinkley; mother, Ethel Honeycutt Brinkley; brother, William F. Brinkley. Survived by loving wife, Patsy Hart Brinkley; sister, Mrs. Byron (Dorothy) Blevins; daughter, Sherry Hill; grandsons, Travis Sheldon, Trenton and Troy Hill; step sons, Presley Jimmy, Brian and Steve Slater; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

Mr. Brinkley joined the U.S. Navy and transferred to the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943 and was assigned to the Air Force Base in Buckley, CO. Corporal Brinkley was a World War II Veteran serving in the 370th Fighter Group, 485th Fighter Squadron in England, The Battle of the Bulge and Normandy Invasion in Aircraft Armor Division.

Ernest worked for the Swift Corporation at their Nashville Meat Packing plant for 22 years before being employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Federal Meat Inspec -tor in Grand Island, NE where he retired in 1981. Member of the American Legion, 753 Greenbrier, TN, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites and the Sesostris Shrine Lincoln, NE. Buddy loved animals especially dogs and birds. He liked to travel with his wife and he had a great sense of humor.

He always carried quarters to give to small children he met each day. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Graveside service and Interment 10 a.m., Monday at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Travis Schoenheit, Byron Blevins, Mark Blevins, Raymond Turner, Austin Slater and Christopher Slater.
