OBITUARIES JAMES, Patricia Y. "Nanny" Age 56 of Portland. May 18, 2007. Passed away at home after a year battle with cancer. Survived by husband, Joe James; mother and step father, Pauline and Charlie Potts of Portland; two sons, Jon (Delana) and Jeremy (Shelia) of Nashville; step daughter, Tonya James of Portland; seven grandchildren; two brothers, sister and spouses of Texas; two aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday at Portland Funeral Chapel with Bro. Greg McCoy officiating. Interment will be at Old Brush Cemetery. Visitation wil be today from 2 til 6 p.m. and on Monday after 8 a.m at PORTLAND FUNERAL CHAPEL, (615) 325-5010 MERRITT, Dean Thomas-Age 35 of Twin Falls, Idaho.

April 26, 2007. Dean was a native of Rutherford County and was born January 17, 1972. He was survived by his father, Jimmy Lee Merritt; step mother, Vickey Darlene Merritt; mother, Brenda Adams; grandmother, Dorothy Merritt Gammons; sister, Lindsay Rae Merritt all natives of Rutherford County; his daughter, Megan Rose Merritt of Great Falls, MT. Dean was a graduate of Smyrna High School and of Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. Dean always had a ready smile for everyone he met and counted as his friend's people from all walks of life.

He never valued life or people by material possessions. He leaves behind so many of us who will always love him and will never forget his loving, caring, easy going nature. We were all truly blessed to have a son, grandson, brother, daddy and a friend such as him. Dean, we will always miss you so. Passed away May 18, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Lynchburg Church of Christ. She attended business school after graduating from high school. She was employed as a BookkeeperSecretary for several different companies including Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Sloan Ford and Federal Reserve Bank of Nashville.

She was a house parentsecretarybookkeeper and found this job the most rewarding at the TN Orphans Home in Spring Hill. She is survived by her husband, Homer Campbell of Lynchburg; sisters, Helen Russell of Lynchburg and Earline Earwood of the Lois Community; brother, Tony Smith of Columbia, TN; four special nephews, Johnny Harrison of Lynchburg, Jerry Harrison of Hampshire, Bill Harrison of the Lois Community and Tom Harrison of Cleveland, TN; daughters, Sandra (James) Franklin of Old Hickory and Jackie Wheeler of Madison, TN; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at Lynchburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Lois Cemetery.

Preer was preceded in death by his wife, Helen B. Preer; sister, Virginia Cammack; brother, BG Carleton Preer, U.S. Army (Retired). He is survived by sister, Sara P. Edmunds of Brentwood, TN; nephews, Rev.

John C. (Teresa) Preer of Conway, SC, Carl E. Preer of Arlington, VA, Jack (Annis) Cammack, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, David (Nancy) Edmunds of Nashville, TN and Carleton (Donna) Edmunds of Knox-ville, TN; niece, Penny (Gary) Turner of Wellington, FL; numerous great nephews and great nieces. Mr.

Preer served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the first wave of the invasion of Omaha Beach on Day. He attended Auburn University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Geology, working for many years in the Texas oil fields. Mr.

Preer was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, TN. To know John was to love him. Funeral services to be conducted 4 p.m., Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, 508 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN with Rev. Tom Gildemeister and Rev. Bill Miller officiating.

Heaven gained an incredible servant on Friday morning, May 18, 2007, after a short illness, but wonderful life.

George was born in Birmingham, AL on April 27, 1931. He attended David Lipscomb High SchoolUniversity from 1945-1953. He was a minister for 50 years including Albertville, AL, Ft. Walton, FL, Sanford, FL, Marietta, GA, Alpharetta, GA, Brunswick, GA and Savannah, GA. He was an elder at Northside Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shelbia; four children, Leesa Black and her husband Jeff of Flower Mound, TX, Angela Ruvang of Lake Dallas, TX, Tommy Yates of Arlington, TX, Wesley Yates and his wife Tonya of White House, TN; nine grandchildren, Landon and Amanda Black of Flower Mound, TX, Tillery, Stephanie and Brandi Ruvang of Lake Dallas, TX, Thomas and Taylor Yates of Arlington, TX, Wes and Haleigh Yates of White House, TN. There will be a memorial service on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 6 p.m. with a celebration Bar-B-Que afterwards at the Northside Church of Christ, 1375 Old Hickory Nashville, TN. On Friday, May 25, 2007 at 5 p.m. there will be a gathering of close family and friends at the home of Frank Hughes in Guntersville, AL for a wonderful time of great memories and the spreading of his ashes on the Guntersville Lake.

Mrs. Hallums was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hamilton Hallums; her parents, R.L. and Sallie Ann Rigney Howland. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Sue Hallums and Debbie Hallums both of Murfrees-boro.

Graveside service for Mrs. Hallums will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at Beechgrove Cemetery with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. The family ask that you meet at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. in order to go in procession to the cemetery.
